Wow, today felt more like late-October than mid-September at the park. We don't want that just yet! Anyway, a few of us braved the chill and the threat of rain and were rewarded with a decent flight of hawks considering.

Common Loon - 18 counted overhead flying south
Eastern Towhee - heard calling
Red-breasted Merganser - 2 flying east out over the lake
Shorebird (unknown species) - flying overhead
Warblers - several species seen on the west side of the park
White-throated Sparrow - a couple seen around the shrubs
Butterflies:
Monarch - 44 counted, many flying high up
